Jorge Martin leads free practice one ahead of the Aleix Espargaro and rookie Pedro Acosta

2023 runner up Jorge Martin led the opening practice ahead of the Aprilia’s Aleix Espargaro who, according to my breakdown, was the fastest rider from the preseason tests in Qatar.
But it was the rookie, Pedro Acosta who ultimately stole the headlines by posting the third fastest lap and being just 0.071s behind the leader.
In fourth it was the Gresini of Marc Marquez, who was just over a tenth shy of Pedro Acosta’s best lap.
Brad Binder slotted himself in fifth ahead of the lead Japanese bike of Johann Zarco who pushed his LCR all the way into third ahead of the GP24 of Enea Bastianini.
In eighth and ninth, were Fabio Digiannantonio and Jack Miller ahead of the reigning world champion Francesco Bagnaia, who rounds up the top ten.
