Trackhouse Racing’s Raul Fernandez will join Franco Morbidelli in the sidelines for days 2 and 3 of the official Sepang test owing to a massive highside in day 1’s morning session.

The Spanish rider is replaced by Aprilia’s test rider Lorenzo Savadori whereas Ducati test rider Michele Pirro continues to ride in place of Franco Morbidelli.

Reigning world Champion Francesco Bagnaia sends a chilling message to the rest of the field by posting the first sub 1m 56s lap of Sepang.

The Italian was noticeably quiet in the first two days, as he focused on testing new parts. However, on the final day of the official Sepang test, the Italian decided to let go of the sandbags by posting the first 1m 56s lap early this morning.

Jorge Martin likewise also went under the lap record, indicating that we might be in for yet another Pecco vs Martin 2.

Day two’s Sepang Test leader Enea Bastianini, finished the day in third locking out the top three positions for the GP24 Desmosedici, which is once again proving to be the bike to be on for the 2024 season.

However, last year’s GP23 isn’t exactly far behind as Alex Marquez kept the GP24s in sight just 0.256 seconds behind Pecco.

Behind the four Ducatis was the Aprilia of Aleix Espargaro, who compared to last year’s Sepang test looks to be in much more complete form. The Spaniard showcased competitive pace in both race trims and one lap pace, indicating that Aprilia will be much closer in the championship battle than what we are accustomed to.

Marc Marquez had a solid showing on day 3, as the Spaniard was able to clock in a respectable P6.

Brad Binder was the lead KTM in seventh whereas rookie sensation Pedro Acosta found further time on his RC by finishing the day in ninth. The Spaniard continues to grow as a MotoGP rider as he shares more track time with the top riders in the premiere class.

Joan Mir got the better of Fabio Quartararo in tenth, as the duo tussled it out for the best rider on day three from the Japanese brand’s perspective.

Fabio Quartararo showed incredible race pace on his Yamaha but the lacking ability of the YZR-M1 to post a strong one lapper, continues to be a thorn on his side going into Qatar.
