Trackhouse Racing’s Raul Fernandez will join Franco Morbidelli in the sidelines for days 2 and 3 of the official Sepang test owing to a massive highside in day 1’s morning session.
The Spanish rider is replaced by Aprilia’s test rider Lorenzo Savadori whereas Ducati test rider Michele Pirro continues to ride in place of Franco Morbidelli.
2023 Sepang race winner Enea Bastianini topped the timesheets on day two with a record breaking 1m 57.1s ahead of day one leader Jorge Martin.
However, it was the early flurry of laps from Jorge Martin and Brad Binder in the morning that dipped under the official lap record from last year first.
Brad Binder, showed that KTM this year is no joke when it comes to setting the screens on fire with a one lap pace, confirming that the Austrian marque is once again the closest to the Ducatis up front.
Behind Brad Binder, was Aprilia’s Aleix Espargaro. The Spanish rider was the only Aprilia rider under the lap record, indicating that the recent aero experiments are definitely working for the Noale based factory.
Reigning Champion Francesco Bagnaia had a better day two as he rounded up the top five.
Pedro Acosta again continues his progression by also being amongst the riders who went under the lap record in ninth.
Eight times world champion Marc Marquez had a quiet yet productive day as the Spaniard clocked in 72 laps to put in more hours on the new machine after suffering mechanical issues in day one.
