The ‘King of Sprints,’ as he is referred to these days, was once again the class of the field in the shortened race format as he led the Sprint race from lights to finish completely unchallenged.

Jorge Martin set a very fast early rhythm from the start in an attempt to break the field as he set a series of sub-1m 31’s lap times, which were only challenged by Marco Bezzecchi, who was in second place.

However, the Italian could not keep up with the Martinator, who kept a constant rhythm and was soon suffering from grip issues, which prompted Marc Marquez in third place to reel him in.

The pressure from the #93 prompted Bezzecchi to crash at turn 9, leaving Jorge Martin with a two-second gap and no further worries from behind. Martin then managed the distance to take his third Sprint win of the season.

“For sure, it’s been a perfect weekend so far!” said Jorge Martin. “But we need to finish [the job] tomorrow. This is the most important thing of all.”

“I’m focused on tomorrow but I’m really happy about today, and I’m enjoying the bike a lot!”

“I feel confident. I feel we are managing every situation in a good way. And, yeah, the pace was outstanding!”

“I think lapping under 31s for some times, then 31 ‘0s, 3’ lows for all the race was impressive, even for myself, to see those lap times!”

“Let’s see if we can improve something tomorrow. I don’t think the pace will be that fast, but at least the feeling can be a bit better for tomorrow.”

“It’s hard to know [where to improve], looking at it, but clearly we will have some things to consider for the race.”

“I think I pushed a bit too much in the first lap, and then I had some issues with some rear movements and also the front. The feeling wasn’t the same as this morning, so we need to analyze and understand why I was missing a bit of front grip.”

If we have it [good weather] tomorrow, I think we are still one of the favorites to win!”
